        Richard Kim was born and raised in Los Angeles, California where he lived with his mother and two older sisters, Christine and Joan. In 2010, he started college at West Point, majoring in Economics along with a focus in Environmental Engineering.  Upon graduation in 2014, Richard received a Bachelor’s in Science and commissioned in the United States Army with a rank of 2^nd Lieutenant in the branch of Military Intelligence. During his first assignment, he was stationed in Fort Campbell, Kentucky with the 101^st Airborne Division. There, he went on to attend and successfully complete Ranger School and lead the 2^nd Battalion, 506^th Regiment Scout Platoon. In the fall of 2016, Richard deployed to Afghanistan with his scout platoon in support of Operation Sentinel. Throughout the deployment, he and his men inserted into various regions of Afghanistan to include Kandahar Valley, Nangahar Valley, Kunduz, and Sangin. During his time in Afghanistan, Richard was awarded the Bronze Star and is now pending promotion to Captain. After completing his required service time in the Army, Richard will go onto to continue his studies in Law School.
