God, the Strong Tower ㅡ

 “But there was a strong tower within the city, and thither fled all the men and women, and all they of the city, and shut it to them, and got them up to the top of the tower.”

 (Judges 9:51)

 “And he said, The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer;

 The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my savior; you save me from violence.”

 (2 Samuel 22:2, 3)

Our hearts are deceitful, our foes many and vigilant.

If we neglect to fortify a single weak point in our character, Satan will assail us at that point with his temptations.

He is constantly plotting the ruin of the soul, and he will take every advantage of our careless security.

He whose mind loves to dwell upon God has a strong defense.

He will be quick to perceive the dangers that threaten his spiritual life, and a sense of danger will lead him to call upon God for help and protection.
