작은 것부터 충실하라

... 그리스도인 싸움의 경우는 그와 같지 아니하다. 조건들을 갖춘 사람은 한 사람도 경기 끝에 실망하지 아니할 것이다. 열렬하고 끈기 있는 사람들은 성공하지 못할 사람이 아무도 없을 것이다. 경기는 빠른 사람의 것이 아니요, 싸움은 강한 사람의 것이 아니다. 가장 강한 사람과 마찬가지로 가장 약한 성도도 불멸의 영광의 면류관을 쓸 수 있다. 하나님의 은혜의 능력을 통하여 그들의 생애를 그리스도의 뜻에 일치시키는 사람들은 모두 승리할 것이다.

생애의 세세한 일에서 하나님의 말씀에 기록된 원칙들을 실행하는 것은 너무도 흔히 중요하지 않은 일로 간주된다. 곧 주목을 끌기에는 너무도 사소한 문제로 취급된다. 그러나 운명이 걸린 문제라는 점에서 볼 때, 도움이나 방해가 되지 않을 만큼 작은 것은 아무것도 없다. 모든 행위는 생애의 승리나 패배를 결정하는 저울에 그 무게를 더한다. 그리고 승리자들에게 주어지는 상급은 그들이 기울인 힘과 열심에 비례할 것이다. – 사도행적, 313.

Be Faithful in Small Things

 … Such is not the case in the Christian warfare. Not one who complies with the conditions will be disappointed at the end of the race. Not one who is earnest and persevering will fail of success. The race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong. The weakest saint, as well as the strongest, may wear the crown of immortal glory. All may win who, through the power of divine grace, bring their lives into conformity to the will of Christ.

The practice, in the details of life, of the principles laid down in God’s word, is too often looked upon as unimportant—a matter too trivial to demand attention. But in view of the issue at stake, nothing is small that will help or hinder. Every act casts its weight into the scale that determines life’s victory or defeat. And the reward given to those who win will be in proportion to the energy and earnestness with which they have striven. – Acts of Apostles, 313.
