춘삼월 지나가고 노고지리 우지지는 사월이면 
뒷뜰에 심어놓은 하루나가 푸르름을 자랑한다 
나른한 봄날씨에 입맛마져 풍선처럼 날아가고 
햇볕에 멍멍이는 게으름의 잠꼬대를 토해낸다... 

After those days of all spring-times gone by and now April of singing birds

Then, my mom’s young herbs on the back yard are appearing

The spring weather took away for my taste to eat like a rising balloon

Puppy in the sunlight spits a lazy sleep talking  

밭에서 일하시며 땀흘리는 까만얼굴 우리엄마 
하루나 쓱쓱잘라 양푼에다 얼기설기 담고나서 
고추장 숙주나물 먹다남은 고사리들 집어넣고 
참기름 보리밥에 휘둘르고 쓱싹쓱싹 비벼주네...

My sweating mom at the field turned now into black face

She then put the sliced young herbs in a bowl

Mixed with green bean-sprouts, pepper-paste and left-over fernbrake

Throw into some sesame oil, barley rice for my tasty lunch
