아들과 외식을 하면 아버지는
빠른 손놀림으로
“밥값은 내가 내마”
나의 아버지가 그리하셨던 것처럼
아들의 아버지도 언제나 그랬다
I recall the habit of my father
Whenever we dined out
He treated me always
To you, so did my father to me, my son.
“It’s my turn to pay”
that’s the words in swift manner
빈 밥그릇 같은 가난한 세상에
아들의 아버지는
제 살 한 점씩 뗴어
아들을 양육하였다
아버지의 아버지처럼
For our such poor family like an empty bowl
The father of son
Raised his son
with his own part of flesh
like his own father
마주 바라보던
가난한 밥상머리에서
먹이를 쪼아 먹던 아들은 떠나고
For our meals of indigent family
We were facing each other at the table
Fed son like a chicken, now gone by
더 넓은 밥상이 차려진
세상으로 떠나는 아들 뒤에
아버지는
언제나 희미한 그림자로
남아 있을 것이다
My father will merely be in good memory
Like a shading shadow
For the son
While gazing his journey to the world
of ready dining in abundance
