 “But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.” (John 20:31)

 God has opened to us our strength, and we need to know something about it and be prepared for the time of trouble such as never was since there was a nation.

 But here is our strength, Christ our righteousness. Let us ask Isaiah who is to be our strength.

 Well, he answers, and it comes echoing down along the lines to our time: “For unto us a child is born, and unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, the mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6).

 Is not that enough for us? Cannot we cover ourselves all over with it?

 Do we need any of our own self esteem? No, we cannot have that. We must hide in Christ, and we can hide in the mighty strength of Israel’s God.

 Thus we work to meet the powers of darkness.

 We fight not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers, and spiritual wickedness in high places. And it is only in Christ that we can meet them.
